“Hay, another Pathway success story – Arcadia, FL. There is an estimated 3 million acres of Bermuda hay production in the southeast. And there is a wide variety of production practices and programs depending on the local market and budgets. But one thing is constant, no matter the amount of inputs; an increase in yield is a positive. Pathway keeps this in mind, what’s good for the grower is good for Pathway.
Fussell Farms is located near Arcadia, FL in the southern part of the state. Bobby Fussell has been growing Bermuda for the better part of his life. Pathway approached Mr. Fussell in the summer of 2015 to set up an evaluation using Nachurs Rhyzo-Link 0-0-15 acetate enhanced with Pathway’s PowerBlend microbial inoculant. Bobby made one application at 1 gallon per acre on Jiggs Bermuda the first week of October, and then harvested 6 weeks later. Treated acres yielded 119 square bales per acre, compared to historical averages of 95, a 30% increase.
How about protein? Protein content is important, providing energy for cattle and horses. The treated acreage had a protein content of 9.6%, compared to that of 7.4% of the non-treated. When you consider the affordability of the product, it more than pays for itself in hay production.
